Makana means “gift” in Hawaiian. The name was inspired by a quote that can be found on the walls of the Southern California College of Optometry that reads, “Next to life itself, God’s most precious gift is sight; and to the ministry of this great gift, the profession of Optometry dedicates itself.” Dr. Iida was also given the Hawaiian name “Makana” at Kamehameha Explorations camp in 5th grade.

Since 2022, Makana Vision has served as a dedicated and caring provider of quality vision services to Honolulu and the surrounding communities.
